[Cambridge Independent Press - Saturday 19 April 1845. Huntingdon. April 12 - (Before G. Rust, R. A. Reynolds, L. Torkington, J. Duberly, J. M. Heathcote. Esq., and the Rev. J. T. Huntley.) - John Scutts, landlord the Horseshoes, at Brampton, charged James Mason with having assaulted him. It appeared that Mason went to his house, and called for beer and tobacco, which he refused to pay for. Scutts admitted Mason was fresh, and the magistrates decided a case that could not entertained, as Scutts was blameable for drawing him beer when was in a state of intoxication. Case dismissed. Scutts paying 5s. 6d. costs.] [J S - 56yr.]
