Married about 30 March 1878, Hardingstone, Northamptonshire, to Annie Maria Mackie, born about 1855, Hardingstone, Northamptonshire, died on 1 November 1932, Mapledurham, Oxfordshire (age at death: possibly 77 years old) [Note 1-1]

Census 1851 Wiltshire-81 Middlesex-91 Surrey-1901 Buckinghamshire [all as John Scutts]. Census 1881 Middlesex states J S b:Hereford, Herefordshire. J S lived at Laurel Cottage, Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire - stud groom. To Anne Maria Scutts (widow). His middle name of Mackie was added later in life. J M S - 63yr. (J M S d:1914 Apr 25 is also possible).

2 (Marion Scutts ca 1878-1961)
[Surrey Mirror Sat 22 Apr 1893. Nutfield, School Treat. The children attending the School had their annual treat in the schoolroom, on Thursday, the 13th inst. There were ..... The prizes for the Sunday School classes were in many cases given by the teachers. Miss Charlesworth, Miss Mackinlay, Miss Simmons, Miss Reeves, etc., in addition to which, Mr. Maw as usual supplied books for three classes. The chief prize takers were, Keith Bashford, Marion Scutts, Edith Crouch, Albert Leeson. William Trickle, Joseph Herbert, Louisa Cooper, Ada Waters, Fred Scutts and May Bashford. Mrs. Woolloton gave a workbox to Marion Scutts. Two silver watches were given by Mrs. Woolloton in memory of the late Mr. Woolloton, to the boy and girl selected by the rest of the children for conduct. Marion Scutts and William ????? secured the highest number of votes, and were awarded with the much coveted prizes of watches.] [M S 83yr., unmarried.] [Will 1 May 1963 Winchester.]
