Emigration ship The Parsee an iron clipper of 1,281 tons ~ until crossing the longitude of Cape Leuwin on August 21, in lat 42 deg 46 min S strong gales from N.E. to E. and S.E. were then encountered, and the squalls were fierce and frequent. There was also a high sea. This untoward weather lasted all the way in when the ship was some 90 miles to the westward she was struck by a fearful squall, attended with quite a storm of hail, thunder, and lightning. While head-reaching under the lower topsails the spanker-gaff carried away.] [M A E - 68yr., cause: Sanguineous Apoplexy. The informant was Thomas Pentle, authorised agent.
