J. Norman Scutt 1921-2014. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father Norman Scutt on January 31st, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Norman was born in Melaval, SK on December 21st, 1921 to William and Sarah Scutt. He was raised most of his years on a farm near Rabbit Lake, SK. Norman was the third born of four children, one brother Elmer and two sisters Hazel and Louella. Norman farmed with his dad. In 1953, he met and married Ann Loewen. They farmed in Rabbit Lake, SK. In 1955 their first child was born, Douglas Norman. In 1957 they had their second child Frances Louella. In 1959 they had their third child Allen Glen. In 1959 the young family moved to Spiritwood, SK. Norman and Ann began to custom saw lumber with their portable saw mill and built their family home, in which they lived in throughout their lives. In the 1960’s, Norman started trucking livestock and grain. In 1965 they had their fourth child Bonnie Ann. In 1966 they had their fifth child Cammie Murray. Norman wasn’t afraid to try anything, from working in the beet fields in Alberta, to picking apples in BC, he worked side by side with his wife Ann. Norman loved playing cards, camping and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and friends. For years Norman enjoyed trucking with his sons. Norman retired at the age of 64 years and then took life easy. His wife Ann passed away in June of 2004. Norman remained in the family home for a few years before moving to the Lodge. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing bingo, telling stories to the staff and the residents of the Lodge. The family is truly grateful to the staff of the Spiritwood Idylwild Lodge. Norman will be sadly missed by his family. The funeral services were held on Friday, February 7th, 2014 at 2:00pm from the Partners in Faith Church in Spiritwood, SK with Reverend David Jensen officiating. Phil Marion led the congregational hymns and Jade Scutt delivered the eulogy. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the honorary pallbearers. Norman leaves to cherish his memory: his children Douglas (Evelyn) of Whitecourt, AB; Frances (Andy) of Tumbler Ridge, BC; Allen (Laurette) of Lloydminster, AB; Bonnie (Melvin) of Whitecourt, AB and Cammie (Karen) of Spiritwood, SK, his grandchildren: Glen (Dawn) Larrivee; Steven Larrivee; Jade (Crystal) Scutt and Jared Scutt; his great grandchildren: Logan Larrivee & Nya Scutt; a sister Louella Cundliffe of Lloydminster AB as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
