[A website states W S b:1813 May 24.] [W S landed in U.S.A.(New York) in 1834 Apr 08. He took his family from New York, to Illinois and then finally settled in Wisconsin. William Scutt, farmer, Sec.18; P.O. Union Grove; born in Yorkshire, England, 24 May 1813; son of Wm. Scutt, Sr., a well-to-do and much respected farmer in the old country.] [Mr. and Mrs. Scutt, Jr., landed in New York, 8 April 1834; in 1839, moved to Southern Illinois, Macoupin Co., and settled on 160 acres; moved to Racine about 1853, and went into general trading business - pork packing, and largely engaged in buying and selling grain; went to Yorkville, in 1858, purchased 170 acres, where it is still located; a fine farm, under the best of cultivation.]
