[1858 Feb 05 is also noted.] [W S was living in 1881 in Pulborough, Old Forge, Roman Road.] [The Sussex Agricultural Express, Tuesday 20 August 1901. Petworth, Petty Sessions. There was only one case for hearing at the Sessions on Saturday, that of William Scutt of Pulborough, who was fined 7s. 6d. for neglecting to send his son regularly to school. The magistrates in attendance were Mr. J. Osmaston (in the chair), Lieutenant Colonel Barrington-Kennett, and Major R. T. Helme.] [Sussex Agricultural Express, Friday 25 February 1910. Steyning Petty Sessions, Monday. Before General R T Godman (in the chair), Mr. W A Hounsom, Mr. W Powell-Breach, Mr. R B Dell, Mr. B Y Bevan, Mr. F W Sim, Colonel E A.Young, and Colonel O J Cavenagh. Rose Scutt. Damaging Underwood, the property of Leonard A Curtis, farmer, of Storrington, on February 16th. White, carter, in the employ of prosecutor, said he saw defendant go into the wood. He followed her and afterwards took possession of the wood. Prosecutor said there had been lot of damage done during the winter, and he was determined to put a stop to it; he valued the wood at 5s. Defendant refused to plead or say anything on her own behalf. Her father said she only took a little wood for the fire. Defendant was bound over in the sum of £5 to be of good behaviour for six months. Her father, who was cautioned by the Bench, was also bound over.] [1919 May 10 - Will. William & Jane Scutt lived their later years at 128 High Street, Wick (moved to Wick in 1908?).]
