[Grantham Journal Saturday 03 May 1879. Poems, by Robert Scutt. Provost and Co., 40 Tavistock Street, Convent Garden This book is of some local interest, the author, Robert Scutt (a minor), is connected with the village of Easton, near Grantham. The principal poems are "Eivira of the Plain," "Saxon lva," ""The Stolen Bride," "A Portrait of Life," and "Love's Revenge." A number of shorter pieces are grouped under the head of "Eventide Reflections." Many of the poems are possessed of very fair degree of merit, and though in some few instances the style is rather weak, any little deficiences of this may well excused in a book which is to be regarded, we suppose, the author's first effort. He has shown himself in several of these poems an intelligent writer, and possessed both of taste and ability.] [R W T S - VRI bapt:Stoke-South, IGI bapt:Stock Rochford, Lincs.] [Census 1881 Surrey - Easton, Lincs.] [R W T S - 40yr., living in 1881 in Ewell, Surrey.
