McCann) at an inquest yesterday into the death of Stanley Royce Scutt, laborer 19, of Buller Street, Prospect, who was killed in an accident at the intersection of Mackinnon Parade and Frome Road, Lower North Adelaide, on December 1. It was found that Scutt died at the Royal Adelaide Hospital from severe head injuries, received when a collision occurred between his motor cycle and a motor car driven by Roy John McDougall, traveller, of Brigalow Avenue, Kensington Gardens. McDougail, giving evidence, said that when he was approaching the intersection he sounded his horn and looked both ways. Glancing to the right a second time, he saw a motor cycle travelling in the centre of the roadway at about 35 to 40 m.p.h. The rider, who had his head down, made no effort to change his direction" or use his brakes. Witness applied his own brakes, and there was a collision. Mr. L. J. Stanley appeared for relatives of the deceased, Mr. E. Millhouse for the driver of the car, and Mr. F. E. Piper for an insurance company. Plainclothes Constable M. A. Daly assisted the coroner.] [SCUTT, Stanley Royce & David & Lillian Maud & Maisie Joy - Dudley Park Cemetery.] [Family Notices - The Mail (Adelaide, SA :1912-1954) Saturday 2 December 1939 p2 Family Notices.
