Everard, Rector of Didmarton, Gloucestershire, John Fermor Godfrey, Esq., eldest son of Sir William Duncan Godfrey, Bart., of Kilcoleman Abbey, County of Kerry, to Mary Cordelia only surviving child of Thomas White Scutt, Esq., late of Clapham House, Sittington, Sussex, and granddaughter of the late Rev. Thomas Scutt, of Brighton.] [J F G was a high sheriff of County Kerry in 1861 living at Kilcoleman Abbey, Milltown, the home of his father Sir William Duncan Godfrey. Kilcoleman Abbey extended to 106 acres by the time he succeeded to the baronetcy in 1873.] [Birmingham Daily Post, West Midlands, Saturday 24 February 1900. The death is announced of Sir John Fermor Godfrey, of Kilcoleman Abbey, county Kerry, Ireland, who passed away in his seventy-second year. He was the fourth baronet, and was formerly a lieutenant in the 2nd Dragoon Guards. In 1856 he married Mary Cordelia, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas White Scutt, of Clapham House, Litlington, Sussex, by whom he leaves several children. The new baronet is his eldest son, William, who is in his forty-third year, and was for some time a lieutenant in the South Wales Borderers.] |
