A fellowship at Cambridge University has been awarded to Mr. P. R. Scutt, lecturer in biochemistry at the Institute of Agriculture of the University of W.A. The fellowship, which is worth £875 a year for two years, is made on a grant from Imperial Chemical Industries. Announcing this yesterday, the director of the institute (Professor E. J. Underwood) said that Mr. Scutt had been doing research in addition to his teaching duties. He had been investigating zinc deficiency in flax and the relationship between nitrogen and vitaminB1 in wheat. Mr. Scutt, who was a master of science of Melbourne University, hoped to leave in November to take up his fellowship. This is the second occasion on which an I.C.I. fellowship has been awarded to a member of the teaching staff of the University of W.A. The first was secured by Dr. R. H.
