[A first meeting of creditors in the estate of Margaret Scutt, boarding - housekeeper was called for this morning, but lapsed for want of a quorum. The liabilities amount to pd150, and the assets to nil.] [M S D S 81yr., C of E, bur: Karori Cemetery, Wellington.] [There died at the residence of Dr. W. Kington Fyffe, Upper Willis Street, Wellington, yesterday, an esteemed resident, Mrs. Margaret Scutt, at the age of 81 years. The late Mrs. Scutt for 21 years has been housekeeper for Dr. Fyffe. Born in Ramsgate, England, she married at home, her husband at that time being on the staff of the late Marquis of Normanby. When the Marquis of Normanby went out to Queensland to take up Vice-Regal duties, Mr. & Mrs. Scutt went too, and later came to New Zealand when the Marquis was appointed Governor in the seventies. Shortly after arrival, Mr. Scutt died, and his widow has resided in Wellington ever sinoe. She is survived by a son, Mr. William Scutt, head of the money order branch at Auckland Post Office.] |
